| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In the early 1800s, a shipped called the Excelență set sail towards America in hopes of starting a new life. On this ship there were exactly eight families who had one thing in common—they were escaping. In each of their homelands a war between non-believers and believers had begun. As each family tried to find a ship to hide onto, they were always found and sent away to be slaughtered with the rest of their kind. With the bloodshed, these families barely escaped with their lives. However there was one ship that belonged to Edison Taylor, a captain of a small cargo ship who was making his way back to America. Extremely grateful to Taylor, they gave the man an extraordinary gift---becoming ageless. This however would not make him immortal—it was a gift that was to be passed on through generations. With each passing generation, the gift granted to Edison would slowly fade and drift off into the next generation, and that generation would pass it on to the next and so on—the oldest generation dying but without a sign of aging—they would die beautiful.
Accepting the gift, Edison made sure each family arrived in America safely—and there the family built their roots rising quickly and acquiring massive wealth, unimaginable power, and influence, they’re ageless beauty becoming a well talked about but well-kept secret. Some have even returned to their home countries to share their wealth and power with their people over the centuries. By the early 1900s a new discovery was made—if the nine families mate with one another, their ageless beauty will turn into immorality.

An elite academy called Excelență only opens their doors to the most powerful families from all around the globe-- Romania, America, Italy, Britain, Persia, Greece, Spain, Egypt, and France. They accept new students every four years, so either you are a freshman or a returning student.
On the outside, it seems like just a school for the prestigious so that they won't have to meddle with the affairs of "normal" people and that’s exactly what the students who are sent there believe, that’s all they have been told by their parents.
Excelență Prestige was built so that the families could keep a close eye out on their secret and make sure that their children are surrounded by no one but the “best”.
After all Excelență does have a motto: Perfection is possible. | |

Oscar sighed as he sipped from a steaming cup of tea and tried to ignore the annoying ceiling decoration that hadn't been in place last year. In his left hand he held a piece of heavy vellum paper on which was listed his living accommodation for the current year - his last year - of school. He wasn't at all pleased to learn that he'd been given the avante garde, the décor was not to his taste at all, but he'd learned the hard way during his first year that attempting to swap with someone else wouldn't end well. On top of that he was stuck studying a subject that he had no interest in whatsoever, and simply took to avoid seeing the thunderous disappointment painted across his father's brow upon learning his son was being expelled from yet another expensive private school. Fortunately Oscar had managed to avoid such an event so far at Excelență, a miracle really considering his track record for causing disturbance, but no one was more surprised than he when he received his welcome pack during the last week of the Christmas holidays. Oscar's mother spent those final days alternately weeping at the thought of losing her child once more for the majority of the year - despite the fact that Oscar could barely be considered a child after turning twenty-one that year - and berating Oscar for not packing his trunk and torturing his thirteen year old brother, Oliver. Oscar's older brother Nicholas had already left home and was a productive member of society - something that Oscar's father commented darkly that he doubted would happen with his middle son.
Leaning back in his seat and staring up at the concentric circles on the ceiling - Who the fuck did they get to design that one, Po the Teletubby? - Oscar was determined not to get to the orientation meeting before it started. Only losers or freshmen arrived on time and Oscar had a reputation to uphold. I suppose I could go and affect a 'cool kid' pose outside of the entrance and check out the fresh meat. Oscar slid his feet off the table and belligerently dropped the teacup he was holding back into its saucer causing it to rattle loudly and spill a few drops out into the delicate china bowl. He rose to his full height of six feet and stretched his arms above his head yawning hugely, the jetlag was starting to kick in and he acknowledged that perhaps his mother had been right and leaving on the latest flight possible to reach New York wasn't the best idea he'd ever had.
Oscar strode across the café and out of the door heading for the theatre; his bags had been left at the entrance to the school to be transported across campus to his 'dorm' so that they would be there ready to be unpacked when orientation ended. Oscar had a bet going with his brother at how long he could survive without unpacking the entirety of his wardrobe, so that was the last thing on he was going to do as he wandered past small knots of students some who waved at him in recognition. The plan was to nap through the orientation and then once it was over go back to his hideous townhouse and go to sleep there. If his assigned roommate did anything to disrupt that plan then Oscar would have to inform him that he was a Lowe and what he said was the first and last word on any subject.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Location: HallHelvetica Stephens-Lowe was in no mood to kid around. Her pick up truck had broken down just as she was pulling out of the driveway, her parents were at their jobs and couldn't pick her up, plus the door was locked and she couldn't get inside her own house. The one day she had to do something important it happens. Why not the next day, when she was already in her dorm? Her fist came down onto the truck's hood, Helvetica hissing out in pain at the collision. "I hate this SHODDY car!" Her other fist came down on it, but that time she didn't hiss at all. Instead she kept pounding and pounding until all that was left on her car was a huge dent. Going back into the car, she sat in her seat and turned the key in the ignition. She felt the car start up and breathed a sigh of relief. "Good," she whispered and started to back out the driveway again. ---- She managed to stop at the closest gas station to buy some gas and a jump-starter. Along with that she bought some iced tea and chips - must haves for the drive ahead of her. It was only an hour or so car ride, the island was around New York and Connecticut was about as close to NY as you could get. It wasn't long before she pulled out of the traffic, onto the exit, and in a few minutes - went over the bridge. In about forty five minutes time she managed to reach the Academy with some time to spare. She took her knapsack out (it was full of her camera equipment) and made sure to press the red 'Record' button on her glasses. "This is it!" She yelled in the middle of the parking lot, a few fellow students gazing at her with confusion, "This is the first day of my first year of my first time in college, wish me luck!" Slinging the heavy bag over her shoulder, the actress strode into the school, gazing around in wonder and muttering a few notes to both her self and her glamera, which stood for glasses and camera if you didn't know. She headed over to the auditorium, following the people she knew were at least in sophomore year. Sitting down in an empty seat, Helvetica dropped her bag and rubbed her shoulders. 'I really need lighter equipment...'

| Location: Theatre hall Maristela drove down the smooth pathway that would eventually led to her new school. She clenched and unclenched her palms around the wheel. She had never once been so far from someone she knew. Even when her family had moved back to Persia, she had stayed with someone, in this case her uncle. Taking a few deep breaths she drove some more, the only noise in the car was the alternative music coming from the radio. Finally after what seemed like hours she had reached her destination. *** After finding a suitable parking for her car she grabbed her purse and dug around looking for one of the papers she had gotten in the package about the school. Finally finding it she walked to the front of the school where she unfolded the crisp white paper, trying to dissect where it was exactly she was supposed to be. Remembering that, the package had mentioned something about an orientation that she had to go to. Walking around a bit lost, she finally found the Theater hall. There didn’t seem to be a lot of people here. So far actually there was only 2 people in the room, herself included. Maybe they were early.
Walking down the steps, the echo of her heels on the floor followed her to her seat. Lowering herself into a seat in the middle of the stage where she would be able to see and hear everything, but still at a comfortable distance. Placing her purse on the seat next to her, she finally gave herself time to look around at her surroundings. There was a beautiful piano at the front of the room that looked to be in perfect condition. The stage, although bare of everything except the back splash curtain still looked very elegant. All in all everything looked, well, perfect. Searching her purse again she took out the book she was currently reading and opened to the part she left out on.

Location: Theatre Hall Ben took his time and got out of his car slowly, it was a little nippy outside. Though he kind of liked the way the winter cold felt against his face. Slamming his car door shut he turned on the alarm before beginning his stroll into the school. He knew that he had to attend the orientation, but he didn’t really feel like going. At least not on time. Walking around the school for a bit it was to his pleasing that not much had changed. He already spent his first year trying to memorize the school grounds, it would be such a bother to try and do that all over again this year. Walking around he didn’t see any new chicas. Maybe all the freshman are in the Theater Hall. Or they haven’t arrived yet. Either way they were somewhere and obviously Ben was somewhere else since he didn’t see anyone. Remembering he had things to do he took out a crisply folded piece of paper, from his pocket that had all of his important information on it. It looked like he was in the ‘whimsical’ dorm this year. And he had a roommate. How….swell. Deciding to actually attend the Orientation he went to the Theater Hall and sat in the back. Sure enough no one was really there. Though he didn’t expect much, he thought that there had to be more than the 2 people in here that weren’t skipping. Sitting down he leaned down in his seat as so he could rest his head on the comfortable leather seats. Maybe he should have skipped this. After all, not a lot of people had shown up. The school couldn’t possibly punish all the students who didn’t show up right? Suddenly the headmistress popped into his mind, and a cold shiver ran down his back. On second thought, he wouldn’t put it past that woman to hunt down every single person and see to it that they were all punished in some twisted, but creative way. Crossing his arms over his chest he sat back up and played on his phone to try and pass time. He was already here, and he had nothing better to do with his time anyway so he might as well just stay right? He said trying to convince himself that he was staying for his own purposes and not because he wanted to end up in the Headmistress’s office again.

| Lidia Fiorabla Balti Location: Theatre Hall Lidia's bags had been packed for a week now, so it was a matter of minutes to finish breakfast, clean up, throw everything (obsessively neatly) into the car, grab a coat, and drive off to the one, the only, the prestigiously perfect, extraordinarily exclusively exceptional Excelenta. Joy. Lidia was not a morning person. Especially in January. Over the river bridge and through the wood perfectly manicured grounds, to the overly pretentious academy we go, thought Lidia, as she parked her car and stepped into the chilly morning air. It was actually rather warm, for January, which didn't stop Lidia from shoving her hands deeper in the pockets of her long black coat. So much for a 'warm welcome'. Reluctantly, she pulled her hands out of her pockets and rummaged through her purse until she found the map of the campus. Lidia ran a finger across the buildings, muttering. "Theatre hall...theatre hall...there!" Freshman or not, it would be just plain embarrassing to get lost, and she really shouldn't skip these things until she figured out how much she could get away with. Also, it was probably important and she should go. Yeah. She didn't have far to walk to get to the hall, and a quick glance at her phone told her that she was still early. There were groups of students congregated both in and out of the building, and while normally Lidia might have stayed to talk, it was fifty degrees outside, and the hall would be heated, if nothing else. Lidia was also not a cold-tolerant person. --- The hall was heated, thankfully, and also rather empty. (Somewhere in the back of her mind, Lidia thought the acoustics would be good in here.) Only a few seats had been occupied. The seats were also, unfortunately, most likely not high enough to let her get away with reading during the orientation itself. Ah, well. In any case, she had a decision to make. Should she sit near someone, possibly opening a conversation in which she would gleefully confound them for her own amusement have a chance to make new acquaintances, yes, that was it, or should she sit in an emptier section, and thus have the peace and quiet needed to read another chapter or two of her book before the orientation started? Decisions, decisions. After a few seconds of thought, Lidia decided on a compromise (it was probably better not to arbitrarily annoy people until she figured out who was capable of intelligent conversation (and therefore the recipient(s) of significantly less deliberate mocking) anyway). She sat in a middle seat, with at least three seats separating her from other people in every direction, but close enough to several people that they could bother her if they wanted to. Choice made, she dropped her coat and purse on the seat to her right and flicked open her book. | |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The wind ran its cools finger through the waves of Jessmine Valade's long, chestnut-brown hair, causing a gentle sprinkle of goosebumps to form along her skin. She did not mind, though; the breeze was both calming and vibrant as the scent of burning firewood lingered in the mildly brisk air. She inhaled and grasped the knit scarf that was woven around her neck, hoping the she could at least feel the slightest sensation of extra warmth. It was not freezing, but cold enough that Jessamine should have worn her peacoat--or at least, another layer of clothing. She failed to do that and, instead, settled for the bit of warmth that her sweater-beanie-scarf ensemble provided. It would do. Besides, she had not really thought much about it as she tried to escaped the tight embrace of her mother, who, once again, lamented the absence of her daughter while she was away at college. Ever Valade had done the very same theatrical cry when Jessamine had begun her senior year. It was no surprise that she reacted to her daughter's second year of college just as dramatically. She was an emotional woman that way, but perhaps that was why her father loved her mother so.
She was thankful for the stability that her family provided, but sometimes it was nice to be on her own. Being able to enjoy the tranquility of the world independently was one activity she treasured above all. That task would be much simpler were she to have been assigned a single Townhouse, but such a thing was unheard of. Nevertheless, Jessamine had no complaints so long as her roommate was a pleasant individual. Otherwise, Jessamine would have a hard time maintaing her her peaceful nature; Her temper had a tendency to fluctuate around loathsome people. Hopefully, they would have a harmonious relationship.
Jessmine entered her assigned Townhouse for the second time that day, checking the plants that she had brought with her, a series of flowers and miniature trees to bring some life into the endearing studio she and her roommate had been assigned. One might think that there were too many collective pieces of nature scattered in their dorm, but Jessamine thought it was quite lovely. It reminded her of her room in Annecy, her beloved French town.
Flopping down onto the cushion of the couch, she grasped her sketchbook that she had thrown there earlier that morning. There was an incomplete sketch of a crowded garden, an image that she had every intention of completing. She tapped the cold, pink eraser against her lips and released a gentle sigh. The image needed color.

“Move your ass.”
The first thrilling words that awoke Carsten on his first day were from his stoic cousin’s lips. He cracked open one eye, only to immediately close it, his strong arms encircling a pillow and pulling it over his face.
“How about I don’t,” he grumbled. It was the first day of his senior year, and if he didn’t have an inclination to see old friends and avoid the headmistresses’ wrath, he’d certainly had satisfied himself by remaining in bed for the rest of the day. Unfortunately his lofty aspirations were quickly dashed when the warm coverlet surrounding his body was cruelly ripped from his bed.
“You have thirty minutes and then I’m leaving without you. Orientation will be starting soon.”
The soft treading of her footfalls across the wooden floors of their apartment signified her departure. After about five minutes of extensive mental preparation, Carsten finally raised his six foot-two inch frame from his bed, and began his daily morning routine. It passed in a monotonous wave, his handsomely rugged face, greeting the day with surprising freshness. Haphazardly shoving his hands into his pockets, he walked over to where his cousin was impatiently standing, flashing her his signature lopsided grin before ruffling her dirty blonde hair. Her response was a blank stare, before she left his side with a haughty sigh, unlocking the driver side door and waiting for Carsten to get inside. After placing their bags in the trunk, they started off for Excelență, making the trek with enough time for him to settle his things into his dorm room. It was pure chance that he and Calista had ended up renting a place together in the heart of glorious Manhattan. After spending several months in their lovely homeland of Greece, they both decided to return to the states, Carsten for his active modeling career and exposure to the rich artistic circles, and Calista…for goodness knows what. She had her own reasons, and truthfully Carsten didn’t care. Her personal life was her own, but their mutual aspirations for the city made the purchase of a place a more than desirable acquisition. Besides, it gave their families a place to stay should they ever happen to visit, which was ultimately unlikely. Carsten’s mother found Manhattan’s atmosphere damaging to her sensitive skin, and much preferred the pastoral landscape of Athens. He couldn’t blame her. America was beautiful, but nothing compared to the cerulean seas of the Mediterranean. Now it was left empty, a nostalgic reminiscence of the lovely summer gone by.
But that was the past, and now he looked forward to his final year at Excelență. He had big plans for his architectural degree, and his impetuous nature made the waiting all the more infuriating. Removing his crumpled itinerary from his pocket, he glanced at both his room assignment and the mandatory assembly, unable to suppress a groan as his eyes scanned the secondary part of the paper. As if he didn’t have better things to do with his time. He had grabbed the bags from Calista’s car earlier, after she had unceremoniously decided to take care of her own business and leave him to his own designs. Her last words were a curt, “Stay out of trouble,” before she gracefully glided down the hallway to tinker with whatever gadget she could get her hands on. As if he needed reminding about self-control. Carsten was the pinnacle of excellence…when he chose to be. With a charming grin and an effortless stride, he made the trek to lavish townhouse, unable to contain a robust laugh as he surveyed his surroundings.
“As if anything could be more fitting,” he remarked sarcastically, tossing his duffle bag at the foot of his bed until he could obtain the rest of his things from the trunk of his cousin’s car. He still had plenty of time before the assembly started; perhaps he could meet his mysterious roommate before engulfing himself in academic tedium. In the meantime he started to unpack, silently imagining all the beautiful, miscellaneous items he would sketch once this ennui had passed.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The cool winter sun winking off the tall mirrored glass buildings of Manhattan was certainly beautiful. There was something chillingly lovely about the razor sharp corners of the buildings flashing the hazy sun into one's eyes. But no matter how beautiful, it could not compare to the sun glittering off the Adriatic Sea. Her holidays in Drniš, the town she had spent her younger years in, had been far too short. She had contemplated waiting until last night to begin the return journey home to the States and picking up a taxi to bring her to school. But she knew how her aunt and uncle would react to that bit of gossip when it got around: gloriously horrified that a Baguci would stoop so low as to take a common New York taxi. Not to mention Oana's persistent pleading not to leave her alone with her parents for an entire car ride across town, begging Blair to join her a week in advance so as to avoid that particular torture. Blair had never seen her cousin beg for anything and so she had booked her flight out of Croatia immediately, though she wanted nothing more than to bask in the Mediterranean sun a few days longer. Her cousin had lured her back with the promise of being able to drive the Rolls Royce, her uncle's favored car, to the campus. But, as she predicted, he would not let her within a foot of the driver's seat ( just because I got one measly scratch on the BMW drag racing the car down the driveway, she thought morosely). She had slid into the backseat with a visibly upset Oana on her right, popped on a pair of sunglasses to disguise the disappointment in her eyes, and petulantly stuck her nose in one of the books she had purchased while in Croatia.
She could feel the quiet purr of the engine, the seamless turns of the car, the sensation of the tires practically floating above the pavement. It all made her fingers and toes itch in potent want to feel the car respond to her touch. She gripped her book a little harder and pushed her face further into the pages in an attempt to quell her desires. But try as she might, Blair could not lose herself in the book; her thoughts were too busy straying elsewhere. She slipped the tiny book into her equally tiny purse and turned her attentions to the window, watching New York whiz by just outside of her reach. It was almost mocking, she thought, her right hand busying itself with the small pendant necklace she wore while her left propped her chin up; the city was moving around her in a blur, spiriting her away too quickly back to Excelență where time seemed to move agonizingly slow. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy her time at the school (she did, really!). The academics were top notch, the accommodations superb. Everything was catered to making her happy and comfortable. But sometimes she found herself... too content; content enough to do whatever anyone asked of her, no questions asked. It was almost as if she were someone entirely different when at school, even though she was still her taciturn, observational self. She knew it was silly of her to entertain such thoughts. Still, Blair couldn't keep them entirely at bay.
All too soon, the bustling activity and bright lights of the city tapered off into a stunning view of the water. Just in the distance was the sculpted bridge that would carry them to the academy, yet again. Her umber gaze danced over the perfectly symmetrical architecture, taking in the elegant sweep of the castle-like buildings that made up the academy. Even from this far a distance, the secluded campus radiated a sense of complete and effortless control and terrifying exclusivity; it sent a tremor of unease and a shiver of nerves through Blair's body. Perfection was not possible, she told herself, no matter the insisting of the school's motto. The imposing wrought iron gates closed behind them and much too soon they were in the perfectly manicured courtyard. The car slid effortlessly into a parking space and Blair wasted no time in sliding out of the car with a practiced grace and elegance. She pushed her sunglasses on top of her head, standing unreasonably still in the courtyard for a moment, blinking golden brown eyes in the sudden onslaught of light. The unseasonably warm winter air pulled at her coffee colored hair and breezed across the thin tights disguising her long pale legs. Finally, after taking in the frightened faces of the new freshman (and after a sharp call from her aunt and uncle), Blair loped over to stand by her beloved cousin, waiting to hear the parting words her aunt and uncle deemed so important.

| Before the word 'Excelenta' left his lips, Anton was already packed and ready for the new school year. He had been waiting for this year with bated breath - he really liked the Academy. He stayed up the entire night waiting for the time that his alarm clock would go off and he'd hop out of bed, into his clothes, and onto the campus. He was looking forward to working and improving his skills, which according to himself, needed about all the training they could get.
When his alarm clock rang through the dark setting known as his bedroom, Anton jumped out of bed and rushed to the light switch. Flipping it on, he bathed in the glow of the light shining against him, telling him, 'Yeah dude, you're going back.'
His mother had left work early, leaving him a ham sandwich with a note by it, something not discovered until Anton had gotten outside into the kitchen. He had bathed earlier in the morning, thinking that if he did bathe when he was getting ready it would take away from the time he'd need to actually get ready (aka gush about how much he missed the school.)
----
He had to take the taxi.
A taxi - and he probably didn't have enough for the fare.
Anton watched through the window as the image of a cityscape stretched out across the horizon. He could see various people getting on with their daily lives, little ants scattering down below.
Watching all the movement was starting to put him in a slow trance, his eyes closing for a few seconds, opening at every turn. Then he started blacking out for a minute or two, nothing waking him up but himself.
It wasn't long before sleep consumed him within that taxi cab and he rode silently, not dreaming, thinking, nor speaking about the Academy he was arriving at.
---
A slap to his face was the thing that woke him up. Looming over him was the taxi driver, an old man who was in desperate need of a toupee.
"Pay?" Anton sat up in his seat and looked left and right before he actually noticed where he was. The freshly mowed grass sat on top of a perfect lawn, with regal like buildings towering over him. He felt a soft breeze blew into the car, but it was probably just his imagination.
Taking out his wallet, the writer quickly noticed that he was short a dollar of the fare. He checked his pockets - only a quarter. His coat had no pockets, neither did his shirt, and it was same to say that his underwear was clean as well. He gave the driver the money, beads of sweat forming at the tip of his head as his tried to form sentences on the tip of his tongue.
"U-Uh..I don't have any mo-money other than this." He held out a quivering his with the cash in it, his face getting red with embarrassment.
The taxi driver sighed, readjusting his coat. "Fine. Money now, please."
Anton quickly handed it to him and rushed out of the cab, repeating his thanks to the driver over and over again as he grabbed his luggage and headed inside the school.
Running into the Theatre Hall as fast as he could (lugging two bags of luggage behind), he sat down at the closest seat to the front. | |

Oscar eventually reached the theatre hall after forcing himself not to hurry in the cold weather. His thick wool coat kept out most of the chill wind that was blowing, while his cashmere scarf flapped jauntily in the breeze. There were a few people scurrying up the stairs into the building - mostly freshmen worried about being reprimanded for being late - but there was the odd returning student peppered amongst the masses. Oscar bounded up the stairs and held them door open for a couple of girls, and then entered letting the door slam shut loudly and raising his eyebrows at the resulting noise. Blowing on his near frozen hands Oscar glanced around the room - his little disturbance had caused several people to look his way and he returned the gesture with interest. Boring, boring, boring. Oscar sighed heavily with repressed disappointment at the new recruits and slid into a seat at the end of a row near the rear of the room, close to the heaters. He was regretting his lack of gloves as his hands slowly thawed and began to tingle. "Anyone seen the dragon yet?" He commented to no one in particular in a throwaway tone. It seemed odd that the orientation hadn't begun yet and Oscar wondered if he'd got his timing wrong. He usually waited until just before it started to make his appearance. | |

| Location: Theater Hall Mari had only just came here but she had already knew some of the gossip that happened in the school. I mean, when the girls here are this loud you can do nothing BUT listen. So when a guy walked in with a loud slam of the door, took her seat in the back and had made a comment about the headmistress she wasn’t so surprised at the fact of a dragon being here. Anyone see the dragon yet? He meant the headmistress. Whose nickname was Maleficent. Which just happened to be the self proclaimed ‘Mistress of evil’ or ‘Embodiment of Evil’ in a popular children’s film/book. Who also just happened to turn into a huge lizard, also known as a dragon. Smiling pleased at herself she quickly clapped hands with herself whispering ‘self five’ for getting this little tad bit of information so quickly without stumbling for an answer. She was also very pleased with herself that she was actually able to come up with a response almost as instantly as the words had left his lips. The way he said it made her think that he hadn’t been talking to anybody in particular, since he was so loud, which only fueled the decision Mari made next. “I think she is still in the tower fighting with Aurora. Something to do with cutting her beauty sleep short.” She called back to the boy who had just waltz into the Hall with a Holier-Than-Thou, attitude. She couldn’t help herself. She wanted to see what the boy’s expression was to her previous comment about ‘Maleficent’. She wanted to see if his comment was supposed to be taken rhetorically rather than literarily. Maybe she should have kept her comment to herself. With a final resolve she made sure not to look suspicious as she gave a little sly glance at the guy who sat in the back of the room rubbing his hands together. Looking him over before slowly almost nonchalantly turning back around she focused back on her book, pretending as if nothing had happened. | |

"How nostalgic..." He mumbled to himself in a dull tone of voice as he slowly planted himself down upon the leather passenger seat of his drivers Audi. Upon closing the door the soft notes of Beethoven greeted his ears as the car swiftly sped away down the streets of Manhattan. At first he was energetic about the new sights and surroundings but soon his mind fell upon Excelență and the future tasks at hand. There was no doubt in his mind that fitting in would be the least of his worries. After all, happy or sad accidents could take place depending on the surroundings and people involved. "Nyet Yanni... You mustn't get yourself into trouble... Sensei's lessons must be remembered and followed at all times..." Berating himself mentally the lad fixed his train of thought to a more productive and positive setting so he could properly function socially and emotionally. His eyes held a passionless tone as the world reflected off of the dark hues of his iris. In these moments, Yanni could hear his fathers voice in the back of his mind saying; "Yanni! You look like an angered creature when you gaze at people while thinking.. You should really just raise your brow and make yourself look more... Thoughtful.." When his father mentioned raising his brow, the muscles complied with easy allowing his gaze to alter from brute anger to a thoughtful expression. Within the back seat the sound of scratching could be hear as Dimitri awoke from his nap! Smelling of Coco butter and fresh shampoo, Yanni snapped out his thoughts and pitched in his seat to greet his furry friend. Despite the drivers wary expression Yanni drew Dimitri out from his luxury cage and place him upon his lap. "Yo my friend~." When speaking Yanni had a very thick but pleasant accent that often made his sentences hard to understand, but for Dimitri they rang out clear as day. In response to Yanni's words the ferret yawned heavily before bounding up the males left arm and onto his shoulder. Taking its place beneath the collar of his shirt, Yanni laughed and kissed the creature upon the skull. "Good boy Dimitri.. Hey hey~ Look ahead we are here!" Chuckling he poked the ferrets nose while feeding it a treat. At first sight he was not able to fully appreciate the Bachelor Pad until he was fully unpacked from the car and handed the keys to it. From there the driver and Yanni quickly entered the Pad with anticipation. A small grunt of approval rolled through his throat as he peered about the nicely decorated interior through the fronts of his hair. "Not bad eh, Dimitri?" Looking down at the snoozing animal he shook his head lightly before making his way into his assigned bedroom. Dropping down a duffel bag and ferret supplies, the Driver placed Dimitri's cage next to the bed near the window for better lighting. Next they brought in his lacrosse bag and that was that! Swiftly handing back the driver's keys, the man bow ed his head in thanks before rushing out the door to make his next appointment. With the soft click of the main door Yanni knew he was all alone now with his ferret and mystery roommate for company. This was not the time to be pensive though, taking up his bag he quickly unpacked his clothes and neatly folded them into the drawers and hung them into the closet. Taking up his hooded pea coat, Yanni looked at the time with heavy eyes. "Should I even bother heading to the lecture hall now? Or should-" Shutting his mouth he took a good moment to listen to the sounds of the home. Taking note of the muffled sounds down the hall he quickly made his way to his roommates doorway. With a swift peek he cocked his head to the side so he could see, not too far below Dimitri did the same giving his teeth a swift lick before staring blankly ahead. "Hmmm, yo.. Names.. Yanni... I am your roommate!" At first he had a rather serious tone of voice thinking it best to appear serious, however he could not help but be himself to a degree. Curt but full of humor. Swiftly raising his arm he pointed to Dimitri who by now had rolled over onto his back while staring at the other male. "This is Dimitri tis a pleasure to meet you... What should we call you?" Raising a brow he waited for a response from his roommate before leaning against the door frame. Things would hopefully come out to a great start. | |

Oscar focused his crystalline blue eyes on the pretty dark haired girl who had replied to his comment. From her appearance he could guess that she was of Persian or Egyptian descent and that meant she belonged to one of two families, both of a higher rank than his own. The girl's gaze darted his way and then away again, almost as though she were worried about being caught looking at him. She might have been a Freshman, he certainly couldn't recall having seen her around campus in previous years, but since Oscar had spent most of his time trying to wrangle his way out of his classes he hadn't been paying much attention to his fellow students. Considering the girl's heritage Oscar's response should be to humour her, just in case she took it upon herself to complain to the dragon and attempt to get Oscar expelled. However her comment was far too inane and asinine for him not to have a little fun with her. Oscar smiled - a close mouthed quirk of his lips that he had been told was a devil's temptation of a smile - and leaned forward resting his arms on the back of the chair in front of him and affecting a nonchalant air, "Really," He said dragging the word out, "And I thought it was the prince's job to fight the dragon. How very forward thinking princesses are nowadays." In all likelihood the girl before him was part of some royal family, which would make his comment a backhanded one at best, and an out and out insult at worst. | |

| Location: Theater Hall Mari kept her head down when she heard the boy acknowledge her comment. Suddenly her head snapped up and she spun around eyes slightly wide. She hadn’t actually expected him to reply. Smiling she placed her bookmark in her book before snapping it close with a quick snap of her wrist. Placing her book to the side where her purse lay she swung her arm to the back of the seat. Giving him a calculating look she looked him down. His arms where slung over another chair in a nonchalant way, and he was smiling at her as well. Where her smile was just amused and friendly his was well…. How the people here say, ‘panty dropping’. This thought made her smile, she wondered for a brief moment how many times he had used this smile to charm his way out of things, since he certainly seemed like a trouble maker. Unfortunately though, his smile didn’t really reach his eyes.
“As they should be. Why wait for someone to do something you can do yourself.” She said. She didn’t really take his comment to heart but simply brushed it off. Why should she? It’s not like he could have known she was of royal descent. Even if he did so what? Her comment wasn’t an insult, but just a silly reply.
"If they were to wait for their prince to come, then they would be waiting forever.” She said with a small smile, to the indicate that she was being silly, and messing with him.
"Besides, both prince and princesses need to eat fron time to time, of course when they find feee time from slaying deagons and singing to the forest animals. Desperate times call for desperate measures." She said with a small shrug of her shoulders. This brought on a full on smile, with teeth and all. Looking at him she waited for him to respind. This kind of felt like a game, like chess, or checkers. Which if that was the case then everyone knows, move the pawns first and wait for an opening. The thought of this just made this little discussion all the more enthralling | |

The auditorium seemed quiet, which wasn't odd in itself, but one could be mistaken in thinking that Oscar and the girl were the only two people in the room. He recalled his earlier idea of not turning up until the lecture started, and this was the reason why: having to sit with a bunch of mutes as they all waited and twiddled their fingers to be told what to think and say, how to behave and develop as a person over the next few years - or however long they managed to stick it out at Excelență. Bunch of fucking sheep. The girl in front of him wasn't much better; although she at least had enough of a brain in her head to engage another person in conversation rather than just sit there like an automaton. Her topic of conversation, however, left much to be desired.
"Because darling," Oscar drawled with a flick of his fingers, "It's called chivalry." He sighed heavily, "Honestly, if a man opens a door for a woman nowadays he's called a condescending arsehole, but if he doesn't then he's a chauvinistic pig." The whole prince/princess Disney bullshit was starting to grate on his nerves; the girl was obviously one of those who was obsessed with tweenie fandoms and that was hardly the sort of thing that would interest him. The mention of food however might be a veiled hint that the girl wanted to meet up with Oscar after orientation for a date, or something. He was used to girls flashing their teeth and coyly suggesting things to him, and who was he to turn down a pretty girl? Oscar stuck his hand out and leant forward a little without raising his denim clad backside from the seat, "Oscar Lowe," He stated in a tone that made it clear that the girl should have heard of him, "Politics major, unfortunately. And yourself?" | |

| Location: Theater Hall Mari looked curiously at the guy, he didn’t seem to be enjoying their conversation much. Maybe it was herself and not the actual topic that made him look that way though. If he didn’t like the topic he could have switched the topic. If he didn’t find her appealing he could have found some way to stop talking to her right? Looking at his outstretched hand for a second she sat up on her knees, and reached over the seat to shake his hand. “Maristela Yourselfi. English major.” She said giving his hand a good shake before letting go of his hand and sitting down in her seat once again. Glancing around the room again she noticed that their still wasn’t a lot of people in the room. The people who were there were pretty close to them. If she was at an air view of theater hall right now she would probably think of them as little dots, in this huge room. She wondered briefly why they weren’t joining in with the conversation. Of course she didn’t know anyone in this room except this Oscar Lowe. Even him she didn’t actually know. He was just an acquaintance at best , all she knew about him was that he apparently didn’t like talking about Disney characters, and that he was bloodline was of British decent.
Turning her attention back to him she tried to think of something else to say so that it wouldn’t be awkward. She debated on turning back to her book and continuing where she had left off but that could be taken a number of ways, and none of the things that she had thought of was pleasant. Turning around to look at the stage she saw that nothing had changed much since the last time she had seen it, as she had thought. So there she couldn’t say that the assembly was about to start so she could continue the conversation. Turning her head once again to face him she focused on something he had said when he had introduced himself.
“Why is it unfortunate that you are a politics major?” she asked not only to kill the awkward air she was feeling, and because she was slightly curious at his response. Now it was up to him. If he hadn’t felt awkward he would probably either ignore her question or find something to busy himself with. If he had felt awkward well…. That was for him to decide what he was going to do next. | |

| Calista Astraia Desypri- Outfit:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It was dark. Blissfully, fantastically, somber. Just the way Calista preferred it. Her soft strawberry blonde locks were angelically draped across her pillow, her eyes shut gracefully with enchanted slumber. Her limbs betrayed the illusion of ethereal languor, twisted into awkward angles, jutting from her slender form with shocking obtuseness. Soft beams of light slithered through the slight cracks in her blinds, her eyes quickly springing open as they perceived the disturbance in her bleakness. Calista never was, nor would ever be, a morning person. The first beams of light alerted her to the painful lack of sleep she had inflicted upon her body after another night of uninterrupted tinkering. Unlike other days, where she would indulge herself with several short power naps, today was the first day of school. If she couldn’t be depended upon as the responsible Desypri than neither herself nor Carsten would ever make it to their scheduled classes. Being responsible was curse, one she would have preferred not to indulge in, but not everyone could pick their lots. It could be worse, though at the moment Calista failed to see how. With a loud groan, she rolled onto her back, angrily glaring at her wooden blinds before untangling her arms and legs from her crisp, white sheets. Everything about her room screamed outré impracticality. Calista loved dark, obscure things, with feminized charm. Just because she was a little bit…odd and extremely eccentric didn’t mean she needed to neglect her appearance. Calista considered herself very fashion forward, though you’d never know it from personality alone. Her feet gently caressed the hardwood floors of her bedroom, before she began her arduous morning routine, paying special attention to the tousled mess that was her hair. It took about thirty minutes, but she was finally able to straighten out its irregular arrangement, an immediate byproduct of her rambunctious sleeping habits. She slipped on one of her favorite dresses, a matching brown sweater and skirt with a chunky gold necklace before making her way to Carsten’s room. Placing a small hand against his door, she slowly pushed it open, her eyes settling on the massive form of her cousin sprawled out amongst the sheets. His mouth was gaping open, the slow rising and falling of his chest falling in sync with his loud snoring. ”What am I going to do with you, Carsten?”His response was a low grumble and a hoarse snore, her eyebrow rising with annoyance. He was a complete embarrassment. However, the scene did bring the slightest of smiles to her lips. Despite his horrendously annoying tendencies, he was always good for a laugh, especially when it was at his own expense. Hiking the sleeves of her sweater up to her elbows, she moved towards his bed, giving his torso a hearty shake. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t move. With more force, she shoved him harder, her patience severely waning as the minutes slowly clicked by on his clock. ”Move your ass.”One of his eyes quickly opened, only for him to try and feign sleep. His attempted ruse wasn’t working. Calista was in no mood for his games. His response only served to infuriate her more, her deft hands pulling the covers off his body with remarkable precision. ” You have thirty minutes and then I’m leaving without you. Orientation will be starting soon.”With that, she turned on her heel, taking care of some last minute preparations, and cooking both her and Carsten breakfast. He joined her about fifteen minutes later and they began the slow trek to Excelență. --- Once they arrived, Calista removed her bags swiftly from the car and glanced at the letter she had received in the mail concerning the activities for today. There was a mandatory orientation. ’Fantastic…’ and her room assignment- The Victorian. It sounded right up her alley. For once she had gotten a dorm that suited her perfectly, but unfortunately her roommate hadn’t arrived yet. After depositing her bags in her new dorm room and happily enveloping herself in its opulence, she took a seat on the corner of her bed and awaited her new roommate's arrival.

Oscar wanted to smirk when she said her name; his assumption had been right, the girl was Persian. He kept his expression under control however, he didn't want Maristela to think that he thought her name was comical and then refuse to go out with him. Not that Oscar couldn't get practically any girl that he wanted, but it would be fairly embarrassing if the female student body learned that he'd been insulting to a new student, especially when he relied on his wit and charm to get them into bed in the first place; the morning after he could care less if they were still hanging around. Oscar's mouth quirked up on one side when Maristela took the bait that he'd laid down and asked about his major. It was an easy opener and would segue neatly into offering to take her out for lunch. "Frankly darling, I fucking hate it." He said in clipped tones, "My old man wants me to go into the family business, although how the hell politics can be a business I'll never know, but that's the long and short of it. I've been given no other choice in the matter, so naturally I'll skive off at every opportunity." Oscar glanced down at his Tag Hauer watch and tutted, "You know your theory about the dragon being off with Aurora might not be so far from the truth. Me thinks fair maiden has slain the beast and we'll be stuck in here till June." The previous topic wasn't one he wanted resurrected but it also helped to put the girl at ease and lead into his invitation to ditch the orientation, "And while I'll admit it's lovely and toasty in here, I'd rather not be stuck in the theatre for the foreseeable future, I might end up limp wristed or something." Oscar rose to his feet, "Fancy grabbing a cuppa with me sweets? I promise we'll be back before ol' lizard lips makes her appearance." | |

Cold. Bitter. Harsh. That’s what described the winter air in New York City that morning. Sadly, those same characteristics matched the mood that had harbored itself of the young Romanian female, and sat just as comfortable in the back seat of her parent’s Rolls Royce with her as her soulful brown eyes looked out the window. Of course it was hard to really see anything with her window down, the unforgiving wind taking lases at her face and causing her to squint her eyes that were peering up at the little bit of sun that peeked from behind the grey clouds.
“Oana. Please.” Patrycja Baguci turned around in the passenger seat of the car to flash her twenty-one year old daughter a stern glare. It was as if she was looking in a mirror, only it was at least decades behind in the past, but it was a mirror no less, even down to the small cut in the upper lip that was barely visible to the eyes unless you were close enough to see—but even without being in the distance, it added something to the already exotic flair of the two women. Giving her daughter one final scolding with her eyes, Mrs. Baguci turned around and focused her attention on the long bridge they had crossed numerous amounts for the same occasion.
As Oana stared at the back of her mother’s head, it took all of the restrain she had not t stick her tongue out. No matter how satisfying it would feel, she knew that childish tactics wouldn’t change the fact. She was going back to this school and there was nothing or anyone who could save her from that possibility. Letting a rather dramatic sigh roll from mouth, she puckered her lips into a pout as she crossed her one arm underneath her chest as the other reached over to roll up the window, ceasing the onslaught of wind to her face.Really, was it necessary to do all of this? No. But for the next few months, Oana wouldn’t be able to pout or bicker with her parents and as much as she wanted to just enough their last few minutes together, it wasn’t going to happen now as the car reached the wrought iron gates that would hold Oana’s soul captive. Okay, maybe she was being a bit dramatic.
Amber orbs danced over to her left where there sitting silently was her younger cousin. Sometimes Onaa wished that she could develop her traits of keeping absolutely silently, especially when there wasn’t anything to say. Or did she just want to absorb how to stay silent—that including making ridiculous noise, even when words weren’t say. Giving her cousin Blair an intent stare for a moment, she found herself undoing her seatbelt before sliding over next to the silent beauty. Mimicking her posture, she stared straight ahead as the iron gates opened and an allowed entrance of the Baguci family. “Welcome home.” Oana announced to Blair in bitter sarcasm before switching to their native tongue, her voice barely above a whisper. “This year, I’m going to find out what they’re hiding from us. I want you to help—“ Her words were silenced as she watched her mother look up in the rearview mirror with a perfectly manicured eyebrow arching in curiosity. Obviously now was not the time nor place to discuss such things was the conclusion that Oana came up with as the car passed by the Freshman drop off area. As they passed by the frightening new faces, Oana recalled what it was like to be their predicament. There you had your life mapped out like you wanted, thinking that you would be in control of your decisions, your journey. Only to have that nice welcome mat ripped from underneath your feet so that you could feel the cold stone of reality against your feet. You didn’t have a say so. Everything you’ve taken apart of in life was planned for that moment, the moment where those iron gates closed behind you and molded you into the person they wanted you to be—the perfect person.
“Oana! Really!” Her mother’s words jarred her from her thoughts, and what’s more the petrified faces of the freshmen that stood scattered about, looking at maps to find their destinations, which was everyone’s destination really—Theatre Hall. As she tore her gaze from strangers, she focused it on a familiar face who held the door open from her in a rather impatient manner. When had the car stopped moving? It didn’t matter now as Oana cleared her throat and the thoughts from her mind to switch to a rather cheerful attitude that came with a dazzling smile. Taking the hand of the valet who waited oh so…loving, she stepped out of the vehicle and took in her surroundings that were becoming all too familiar.
“Alright girls,” Oana heard from the booming voice of her father who had begun unpacking their belongings. “Pat and I must be heading off now. Your things will be placed in your homes of course so there will be no reason to be late for Orientation. And now reason to miss it like last time.” Alexandru cut his eyes at his niece and daughter on the last part. So what if they just happened to slip and explore bit last time? They weren’t that missed.
Closing the trunk of the car, Alexandru joined his wife who was embracing the two young ladies and saying their departed goodbyes. With one last warning of behavior and how they represent the family, Oana stood beside her cousin with a bright smile on her face as she waved goodbye to her parents, the fading never fading from her face until she was certain they were no longer in view. Dropping her arm to her waist, she turned her attention to the only person family she had left.
“So. Let’s go see our rooms instead.” | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Mari nodded mostly to herself in understanding as he explained his situation. She had been forced into many things by the will of her parents. Of course those things did prove to help her in the long run but that wasn’t the point. Looking Oscar she could kind of see him as a trouble maker, especially if he was being forced into something he didn’t enjoy it himself. She smiled, so it seemed like Oscar might have been a Disney fan himself for bringing back up their previous conversation to ‘sleeping beauty’. She was about to make a comment relating to that but it died in her throat when he asked her if she wanted to skip the orientation. She hesitated with a response this time. She looked quickly back at the stage, where it seemed that still nothing was happening. She didn’t want to skip the orientation and miss something important and get in trouble, but a cup of coffee did sound nice even in this warm room. Biting her lip as she had an inner debate with herself she finally stood up slipping her book back into her purse before grabbing that and slinging that over her shoulder. One cup of coffee wouldn’t hurt, plus he did promise to have them back before the orientation started, and what is a man without his word? “Sure.” She said to him simply before walking up the stairs towards him and to the doors. Glancing back once more at the stage just to make sure that the orientation might have miraculously started by the time she had turned her back she pushed the doors open and walked out. | |
