| A Guide for the New Welcome to Galore, an online community dedicated to flourishing roleplayers and writers. Here at RPG, we try our best to create relaxed and user-driven environment through simple rules, approachable staff members and easy to navigate structure. This guide is created for new members, or even not so new members, to get you on the quickest path of joining our growing community. Remember that this is a guide, and just like you--it will be grow as time continues here on Galore. - What is Roleplay?:
A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making or character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines.
On RPG,roleplaying is a collaborative effort between authors who wish to create a story. The roles, the plot and the structure of the roleplaying differ between the threads, which are administered independently by individual members of Galore --everyone is allowed to create their own thread and run their own roleplay.
- Getting Started:
○Beginner RP For people new to roleplaying that want to test the waters and also for people that want to experiment. This section is perfect for anyone who doesn't want to worry about standards.
○Semi RP For people who are used to the roleplaying scene and can write at least a bare minimum of a paragraph or two. Semi is more laid back than Advanced RP but more moderated than Beginner RP. It's a good middle ground. No one-liners.
○Advanced RP Strict, moderated roleplaying with high standards. Here is where roleplayers go when they want high quality roleplay with character development, and longer posts. There will be zero tolerance for one-liners. These roleplays have a minimum post length (usually 3-4 paragraphs).
○One on One In pairs instead of an entire group of authors. All standards are blended here, it is up to the individuals to decide what standards they wish to abide by.
Explaining the Sections On Role-Play Galore, sections are arranged according to writing standards, rather than genre. The reason for this is so roleplayers can find partners that are not only comfortable, but compatible with one another, and to help make navigation simpler. If someone is not comfortable with making longs posts, would you want to be paired up with someone who only makes long and detailed post? No. This is a way to make sure everyone can find a comfortable atmosphere without feeling undermined.
Joining an RP: Out of Character, Character Sheets, and In Character The Out of Character section is basically a testing ground to recruit interested members into a roleplay that has not been officially created yet. A typical role-play starts here where the GM (Game Master), or Creator gives the basic run-down of the roleplay and their “pitch line” to lure individuals into the roleplay. Once the GM has recruited a few members, they then begin to make a Character Sheet for the interested members to fill out. With the character sheet provided, individuals can begin to create their character for the specific roleplay, as long as it follows the rules of the GM, remember, they have full authority over their own roleplay! The GM then either accepts or rejects your character, if it does not meet their standards. After the Character Sheet thread, the GM then takes the time to make the IC, where the initial roleplay actually takes place.
OOC-->Character Sheets--> IC This is the usual sequence of order, however it is never unusual to join in on a roleplay after the character sheets or IC has been started, simply ask the Creator of the roleplay you are interested in if you can still join, usually the GM will be more than happy to have more members!
Joining an RP: Searches and One on Ones Although the Searches thread is listed underneath the One on One sections, it can be used to see who would be interested in a certain roleplay idea before even creating an OOC, it is a testing ground that should be used accordingly, though it caters mostly to people searching for one partner to roleplay with. To find a roleplay partner, simply create a thread with a title that may draw people in. It is best to open up your thread with what you are looking for and guidelines to roleplaying with you as an individual. There you can create a character application (sheet) for a person to fill out, or you can simply ask the person to PM you to discuss further details together. In the end, when both parties are satisfied, they are free to create a thread for their paired roleplay.
- A Message from the Queen:
This is a small community that is growing every day, so you may stumble upon some new article or new section one day, but that doesn’t change the reality of the rules and regulations, which all comes down to one thing: Act like an adult, and play like a child. This is a forum for people to have fun and to enjoy their hobby, that’s all roleplaying is—a enjoyable hobby. So please remember to mind your manners and just enjoy each other’s company! For further information or any assistance, you can ask any of the Galore staff or even ask a seasoned member—they will be more than happy to help you out!
